Abortion
I
believe God has mandated me to join the ranks of those on the
frontlines who boldly confront the propaganda about
abortion. Through the years since my own abortion, God has given
me insight into the various deceptions undergirding the pro-abortion
argument.
The
purpose of this message is not condemnation or judgment—if
it were, I’d be the first one condemned. But because I
understand the driving force behind abortion, I only seek to
neutralize and
overcome its vicious attack on women, their unborn children,
and the institution dearest to God’s heart—the family.
When
a woman becomes pregnant, her role as a mother commences, and
as a mother, she will generally protect and nurture her child.
It contradicts the very nature of a mother to kill her children;
so for a woman to willingly allow harm to come to her child,
she has to have taken hold of a lie and regarded it as truth.
It is
called being tricked, duped, hoodwinked, swindled. And this
is
what satan has done with countless women--he has tricked us
into believing lies which have cost us the lives of our unborn
babies.
In
the garden of Eden, satan attacked the first woman ever created.
Did he try to kill her? Even though John 8:44 says
that he was
a murderer from the beginning, he did not try to kill her
the way we would think. What did he do? Let’s look at Genesis
3:13 and see how Eve described what happened when God questioned
her
about the sin she and Adam committed:
“ And
the Lord God said unto the woman, what is this that thou hast
done? And the woman said, the serpent beguiled me,
and I did eat.”
Webster
defines beguile as “to mislead by tricking, etc.;
deceive.” Eve was tricked, misled, deceived. Satan
lusted after the dominion God had given Adam and Eve here
on the earth;
so his strategy for stealing their dominion commenced with
deceiving Eve. It worked. Eve yielded to his deception
and Adam yielded to
Eve, and both disobeyed God. This disobedience led to their
separation from God; and separation from God equals spiritual
death. His plot
ultimately murdered them spiritually and opened the door
to the natural deterioration (or slow death) of their bodies.
Satan then
achieved the status as “god of this world.” Deception
resulted in death.
The
same holds true for abortion. Abortion is murder, and in order
for this sort of murder to be carried
out, it
must be
saturated with lies. I am reminded of movie scenes in
which characters
had
to complete difficult or painful tasks, and the only
way they could pull it off was to first get drunk. Their judgment
had
to be impaired
and their senses numbed in order to carry out the tasks.
I also think about scenes in which men who wanted to
have
their
way
with women would try to get them drunk first, so they
would drop their
guards. This is the enemy’s mode of operation.
He intoxicates men and women with self-serving lies to
numb
them and impair their
judgment. Then he commits murder. He murders a woman’s
baby, he murders her spirit, he murders her self-esteem,
he murders her
confidence to parent, her murders her ability to trust,
he murders relationships, and the list goes on.
Some
of the areas which I address are the truth about:
• A woman’s “right to choose”
• The
contradiction of being “pro-woman” and “pro-abortion”
• The
short-sightedness of the “back alley” abortion
pro-choice argument
for legalizing abortion
• The impact of abortion on violence
• The impact of abortion on the black community.
While
I believe this message will affect people of all races, I pray
that it permeates the black community.
Black
women have had 33% of all abortions. This is quite alarming when you consider
that blacks as a whole make up less than 13% of
the entire population. One reason for this is blacks believe
that those who strongly
propose abortion as the best option for their “problem
pregnancy” have
their best interest at heart. While this certainly
is not the case, in 2004, this belief became the impetus for
the NAACP, the leading
organization in the black community, to formally
take a pro-choice stance on abortion. Unbelievable. Meanwhile,
the growth of the
black population is slowing (we are no longer the
largest minority in America), and many black women and their
families are hurting.
My heart yearns for the black community to open
its eyes to the toll abortion is taking on its people, families
and
influence.
I
do not claim to have all the answers for abortion-related
issues because no one person does. First Corinthians
13:9 says, “For
we know in part and we prophesy in part.” What
I have received is only part of the message and
ministry God wants to release in
this season, and I am faithful in declaring and
doing what He’s
mandated. However, I am certain God has, is,
and will continue to impart and stir in the hearts
of others effective means of helping
women, not just with abortion issues, but in
all areas. Something
in our society is amiss when a woman
feels the only way to survive is to terminate the life of
her child. My prayer is for a “real solution” which
truly empowers women . . . not strips them of the essence
of their womanhood.
